BREAKING NEWS: San Antonio Spurs player Victor Wembanyama’s security will NOT be charged for ‘punching Britney Spears in the face’
NBA sensation Victor Wembanyama’s security guard will not be charged after allegedly slapping Britney Spears across the face.
The San Antonio Spurs player’s private security guard allegedly assaulted the singer after she tried to meet him at the Catch restaurant in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced Friday that the investigation into the incident has come to an end.
“No charges will be brought against the person involved,” the spokesman said.
Wembanyama said the confrontation erupted when Spears grabbed him from behind, prompting his security guard to spring into action, while the singer claimed that she “just tapped him on the shoulder”.
Wembanyama said during an NBA Summer League press scrum that Spears “grabbed me from behind,” prompting his team to spring into action.

Britney Spears says first-round NBA draft guard Victor Wembanyama “slapped me in the face” and “nearly knocked me over” after he tried to meet the basketball star.
The two stars have discussed the incident in the days since, with Wembanyama saying at a news conference on Thursday that Spears “grabbed” him as he tried to meet him at the upscale restaurant.
Speaking before his first game with the San Antonio Spurs, the 19-year-old admitted he didn’t realize the person who grabbed him was Spears until hours later.
“I didn’t see what happened, because I was walking in a straight line and they told us, ‘Don’t stop,'” Wembanyama said.
“But that person grabbed me from behind, not my shoulder, he grabbed me from behind, so I know security pushed her.”
However, Spears rejected his version of events, stating that the “grabbing” was actually a “mere tap on the shoulder.”
She added on Instagram that the force of the punch, supposedly by Damian Smith, “nearly knocked me over” and that she was “not prepared” for it.
The pop star called the story “super embarrassing to share with the world but it’s out now” and claimed that her security team has never assaulted anyone despite decades of being harassed by fans.

Moment: Britney Spears has been photographed moments before being ‘punched in the face’ by an overzealous security guard when she tried to take a photo with NBA star Victor Wembanyama.
“I’m surrounded by people all the time,” she said. ‘In fact, that night, I was invaded by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn’t hit any of them.
Spears has said she has yet to receive an apology from the NBA rookie or his security team, but said she hasn’t given up hope one will come.
“I appreciate the tremendous amount of love and support I’m receiving right now,” he said.
‘Thank you to the Las Vegas police and detectives for their support.’
