Vicky McClure has admitted she feels “very lucky” to have already found her niche for dark and gritty roles, while discussing her new psychological thriller Insomnia.
The Trigger Point actress, 41, said she is always left “wanting more” after starring in tense and exciting series, stating that she is “never left wanting to star in a sitcom.”
speaking to MirrorVicky shared her taste for dramatic roles and “dark type of work” but said she has no idea where her love for it began.
The Line Of Duty star said: “Some of the things (I do) are really dark and you can’t help but, as an actor, put yourself in their shoes to try to think about what that would feel like and how you could achieve it.” to that place.
“I think I do a lot of dramatic, dark work. God knows why! I always work hard and enjoy what I do; I’m very lucky to do it.

Vicky plays a successful career woman whose life begins to fall apart when she suddenly stops sleeping in the upcoming thriller Insomnia.
He stars in the British drama based on the book of the same name by Sarah Pinborough.
The actress plays the character of Emma, who fears she is losing her mind when everything in her perfect life starts to go wrong.
Two weeks before his 40th birthday, he stops sleeping, just as his mother did just before suffering a psychotic attack on the night of his 40th birthday.
This leaves her gripped by fear, as Emma’s mother, Patricia Bournett (Corinna Marlowe), always said that Emma would end up like her because she has the same “bad blood.”
Emma’s world begins to fall apart and she realizes that she can only avoid following in her mother’s footsteps by investigating her painful past.
Vicky said what happens to Emma throughout the show is “beyond the norm”, adding that some of the scenes are “heartbreaking”.

Emma’s estranged sister Phoebe Bournett is played by Leanne Best, who appeared in BBC’s Ripper Street and 2024’s Sebastian.
Finally, Inside Man and Agatha Christie actress Lyndsey Marshal plays Caroline, Emma’s closest friend.
Insomnia is the latest British show distributed by Paramount+ after A Gentleman In Moscow, also an adaptation of a book.
Börkur Sigthorsson directs and Sarah adapts her novel to the screen, as well as executive producing.
Insomnia debuts exclusively on Paramount+ on May 23.
