Line of Duty’s Vicky McClure has revealed that her fiancé Jonny Owen left her engagement ring in a pub when he was drunk before proposing.
The actress, 37, said producer Jonny, 49, was drinking with his friends and carrying the expensive jewelry.
He then decided to give it to a bartender to keep it safe, but eventually forgot.

She said The Nottingham Post: ‘He got the ring, then met his mates, and of course it was Christmas time, because we got engaged on Christmas Day.
‘And he got absolutely drunk and said,’ I’ve got this damn expensive ring in my pocket, so he gave it to the bartender who put it in the safe. ‘
At the end of the evening, he forgot the bartender had taken it and left to take the tram back to the couple’s home in Nottingham.
Vicky went on to explain, “And then he remembered and took the tram back. Yes, he made it. It made it in one piece. ‘

Earlier this month, Vicky joked that she and her fiancé could eventually get married to Gretna Green after her marriage was put on hold due to the pandemic.
The actress got engaged to Jonny in December 2017, but has admitted she still hasn’t even booked a venue for the big day.
Speaking on the Graham Norton Show about postponing her wedding plans due to lockdown, she said: “We’re not married, but we haven’t even booked it.”
She added: ‘I was supposed to marry him tomorrow, but we never got around to confirming the plan. We will probably end up at Gretna Green! – referring to the Scottish village known for runaway weddings.
The star announced her engagement to Jonny three years ago after meeting while filming his movie Svengali in 2012.

Last November, Vicky shared a sweet snap with her lover three months apart, after she finished filming the sixth season of Line Of Duty.
In her caption, Vicky admitted that she hadn’t found it ‘easy’ to be away from Jonny for so long, but praised her fellow cast and crew for their hard work on set.
She gushed, ‘Home❣️ 3 months away from home is not easy … but we have the BEST crew who have kept each other safe, kept the mood high, couldn’t get another job because of this. I love you all LOD a lot !!!!! ‘
In 2019 Vicky spoke candidly about her love life on Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail podcast, admitting that she ‘just knew’ her fiancé was the one when they first met.
The star revealed: ‘When we first spoke it was on the phone. I got on the line and just knew. I absolutely know. ‘

After their conversation, Vicky explained that she googled her future husband-to-be and found out he was married, but said when they met “ he was in the middle of a divorce. ”
She said honestly, “It was tough. I was like ‘I’m scared now, I really feel something I’ve never felt before. He’s a real man. He is an adult. ”
The pair would appear in the movie Svengali together, and the This Is England actress revealed, ‘We were talking about love. And just as he described it: I was like, ‘Oh My God. He’s the man for me. ”
Vicky continued: ‘We literally lived together after a week of meeting. We have actually stayed together from that time until now. We have never lived apart. Seven years in March. I’m not sure of fate, but I couldn’t see my life without him.

“I have never loved anyone more than Jonny. It sounds cheesy, but I love him more and more every day. Things keep getting better. Seven years with someone – I feel really happy. I’ve had relationships where I didn’t. ‘
Saying that she struggled with other relationships for not being ‘mature enough’, Vicky added, ‘When you finally meet someone who understands you, lets you fly, loves you for who you are and you can have that heartfelt laugh’ awesome.
The couple got engaged on a morning cuppa on a romantic walk in Nottingham, but waited until a few days later to make the happy announcement.
Vicky told the Nottingham Post about the proposal: ‘We stayed home together for the first time on Christmas Eve, so we had Christmas morning together.
He put the question over a cup of tea – we went to the Bubbles at 8:30 in the morning. ‘
As well as Svengali, the pair appeared on screen together when Jonny took on the role of Taff in This is England 90.
