In the championship race of the women’s Bundesliga, defending champions VfL Wolfsburg have overtaken their big rivals Bayern Munich, at least for the time being.
Four days before the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal, VfL won the early game at MSV Duisburg 3-0 (1-0). Dominique Janssen from the penalty spot (16th minute), Pauline Bremer (68th) and Tabea Waßmuth (82nd) scored the goals for Tommy Stroot’s team in front of 1222 spectators.
The Wolfsburg women now have 48 points after 18 of 22 games. FC Bayern (46) have only played 17 games and can overtake them again on Saturday with a home win against SC Freiburg.
