MANILA, Philippines — A ship ran aground Thursday off the coast of Coron Island in Palawan, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

THE PCG said the LCT (landing tank) Lady Alina ran aground around 3:30 p.m.

“Based on the initial investigation, the landing craft tank ran aground due to a lookout calculation error caused by zero visibility,” the PCG said in a statement.

The captain of the LCT Lady Alina said he and 16 other crew members were safe.

“He also indicated that they planned to maneuver at high tide tomorrow, September 15, 2023,” the PCG said, referring to the ship’s captain.

Meanwhile, the Coron Coast Guard Station and Marine Environmental Protection Unit did not find any oil spill after the incident.
