Verizon was offline for customers in Michigan, leaving them without cell phone and internet service.
Local outlets reported the outage around 10 a.m. ET, saying thousands of local residents are affected.
DownDetector, a site that monitors online disruptions, showed that mobile phones, 5G home internet and ‘No Signal’ are the most commonly reported problems.
The network outage was resolved around 11:30 a.m. ET.
DownDetector showed several other states in ‘red’. These issues were likely people trying to call friends and family in Michigan and not connecting.
Users reported that their phones are in ‘SOS’ mode, where your phone has lost normal cellular connection and can only make emergency calls.

Verizon hasn’t officially acknowledged the outage, but the company’s support on X was in response to frustrated customers.
‘My internet went out at 10pm last night and wasn’t restored until 3pm. Now there is another problem?? The 10th again at 12.30 pm. What happened to you, Verizon??” One X user posted in the early hours of Friday.
Verizon Support responded to the message asking for more information about the issue, to which the frustrated customer said a Verizon agent told her the outage would not be resolved for 12 to 24 hours, although this has not been confirmed.
