Vauxhall has unveiled the latest trick to keep electric vehicle owners happy while charging: a bespoke, barista-style coffee-making station for its Mokka EV.
The ‘Mokka Coffe-e’ is a unique model that ‘will offer EV drivers the perfect coffee break while charging’.
The concept car ensures drivers have access to their caffeine fix no matter where they charge the battery, Vauxhall claims.

After research from Vauxhall revealed that three-quarters of EV drivers intentionally plan their journeys to include charging points offering coffee, the manufacturer has sprung into caffeinated action, designing a version of its new Mokka electric car with an onboard coffee machine.
The Mokka Electric is just one of many electric Vauxhalls, with the The specifications of the new Grandland EV have just been confirmed and a new Frontier hitting UK roads later this year.
It comes with a grinder, mini fridge and drinks drawer, all housed within a bespoke cabinet concealed by two Alcantara-covered doors with elegant stainless steel handles and a hand-stitched design that mirrors the Mokka’s interior.
The Coffe-e concept includes not one but two coffee machines (ground and capsule), as well as a milk frother, a coffee grinder, a coffee maker and a refrigerator so you can start making the perfect cappuccino while charging the battery.

The unit’s design replicates only the most modern coffee shops, with the grinder, mini fridge and tap box all housed within a bespoke cabinet concealed by two Alcantara-covered doors with sleek stainless steel handles and a hand-stitched design that mirrors the Mokka’s interior.
And there’s no excuse for someone to make bad coffee when your coffee cart has scales to measure precise bean quality, a Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) tool to ensure a smooth coffee extraction flow (you should get a barista certificate just to know what that is), and an espresso tamper to evenly compact the beans.
A standard electric range of up to 325 miles is expected, but this may be as high as 435 miles in a later version. Prices start from £34,700 for the hybrid engines.

‘Iconic Green’ is apparently “a creamy, rich flavour with chocolate tones”, ‘Voltaic Blue’ is “sweet and vibrant with notes of blueberry and passionfruit”, while ‘Contrast Grey’ is a “balanced caramel-flavoured espresso with an earthy, herbaceous body”.
If these sound too ambitious for your palate, there’s also a less adventurous medium roast ‘Artic White’ with ‘plenty of molasses sweetness’, a ‘Cosmic Red’ with hints ‘of stone fruit acidity and hazelnut’ and for heavy drinkers, ‘Carbon Black’ is ‘best sweetened black with notes of nectarine and blueberry’.

The Mokka Electric can charge 100kW with DC fast charging, allowing it to go from 0 to 80% battery in 30 minutes. The Long Range model can travel 405 kilometres on a single charge, while the base model can travel 336 kilometres with its 50kWh battery.

James Taylor, managing director of Vauxhall, said: ‘The UK is a nation of coffee drinkers, with 95 million cups drunk a day, and Vauxhall owners are no exception to this, with 64 per cent drinking at least one cup a day.
‘Whether it’s a latte, flat white, cappuccino or espresso, the Mokka concept has all the tools you need to make that perfect coffee, wherever Mokka’s new 54kWh battery takes you.’
Hopefully, all you need on your getaway is a nice, strong coffee, because there won’t be room for more provisions in the 310-litre boot.
