Manchester United’s later winner against West Ham caused some debate as to whether the goal should have stood or not.

Anthony Martial passed Edinson Cavani and the Uruguayan put it on a board for Marcus Rashford to tap into the far post.

There was a VAR review to check if an offside player was involved in the run-up, but the goal stuck and United moved up to fourth place in the Premier League.

Fans took to Twitter to give their reaction. One United fan tweeted: ‘It seemed offside, but I don’t think the VAR would take that away. It’s like Cavani’s chip last season lol.’

Another fan added: Can anyone tell me how Cavani was sidelined here? Or are we just pretending he was gone because it was Man U?’.

“It’s not controversial. He’s on the sidelines,” said another United fan.

Others, however, saw it differently and thought that the United striker was offside. A Chelsea fan tweeted: ‘Marcus Rashford scores the winner against West Ham in the last minute of the game, but Edison Cavani was definitely offside in the build-up.’

One West Ham fan was furious when he tweeted: ‘This league is so corrupt ffs. How could VAR not see Cavani was 5 yards offside?!?! Smoking.’

“Isn’t Cavani offside or am I seeing things?” a Liverpool fan asked.

The late goal puts Ralf Rangnick’s men over the Hammers for the first time since October and into fourth place.
