“For those who get hurt because I can travel – let me clarify a few things,” the Love Island Australia star began.
‘I am a European citizen. Remember, in January, half of Australia told me I’m not welcome there and should “go back to where you came from” – all because I said I like getting waves instead of washing my hair .’
Vanessa referenced a YouTube video she shared at the beginning of the year, in which she complained that the worst thing about quarantine is “not washing her own hair” and missing the opportunity to go to a salon.
She later revealed that she woke up to 500 death threats because of the “tongue-in-cheek” comment.
In her statement, Vanessa went on to add that she “has a business in Dubai” – where she resides – before saying it was “not fun” to be in lockdown for weeks while touring with Bernard.

“I took Covid tests almost daily and was locked up in hotel quarantine for six months while on tour playing tennis,” she continued. “If you think this kind of travel is fun, please give it a try.
“I’ve given up my whole life, my family and friends in Australia knowing there’s a very slim chance I’ll see them again soon, or go home.
‘I miss my bed. I miss my grandmother, brothers and sister. I haven’t had a home-cooked meal in seven months. I also don’t like living in Dubai in the middle of the summer, where it is currently a MINIMUM 45 degrees every day.’

She ended by mocking strangers whose “jealousy and depression make you write me a nasty message,” adding, “Please think about the things I’ve sacrificed and the struggles and pressures I face personally.
“What you see on social media is not reality.”
Vanessa left for Dubai in June following a public spat with Bernard Tomic in Croatia after she claimed he caused $16,000 in damage after smashing her laptop during an argument.
Despite going to Dubai without him, she later claimed that the duo did not break up but have remained coy about their relationship status in recent weeks.
