Vanessa Bryant reveals that Kobe bought her blue dress from The Notebook while sharing sweet details of their romance in heart-rending praise
Vanessa Bryant remembered how her late husband Kobe presented her the blue dress from the 2004 movie The Notebook in an eulogy that she delivered to Los Angeles on Monday for her late husband.
The 37-year-old unveiling came at a Staples Center reminder for her late husband, 41, and daughter Gianna, 13, after their death with seven others in a helicopter crash January 26 in nearby Calabasas.
Vanessa said that she and Kobe “hoped to grow old together like” in the romantic drama played by Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Gena Rowlands, James Garner, Sam Shepard, and Joan Allen.
Vanessa remembered how Kobe had gifted her with both the dress that McAdams wore in the film and Allie in front of Ryan Gosling’s Noah, in addition to the notebook that was used as a prop in the film of the same title.
“When I asked him why he chose the blue dress, he said it was because it’s the scene when Allie returns to Noah,” she said. ‘We had hoped to grow old together, just like the film. We really had a great love story. “
Vanessa, supported by daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, three and Capri, seven months, on the emotional day, described herself and her deceased husband as “two perfectly imperfect people who form a wonderful family and raise our sweet and wonderful girls. “
She described her deceased daughter Gianna as “one of [her] best friends’ and an ‘incredibly sweet and gentle soul’.

“She laughed the best. It was contagious, it was pure and genuine. Kobe and Gianna are naturally attracted to each other. “
