The USMNT have confirmed a second warm-up match for their trip to the Copa América, with the announcement that the team will play Brazil just over a week before playing in the group stage.
The team will travel to Orlando, Florida, to take on Brazil at Camping World Stadium on June 12, just eleven days before their opening match.
The news of this comes just days after it was confirmed that the team will face Colombia at FedEx Field in the suburbs of Washington, DC.
That contest takes place four days before the Brazil match.
This match against Brazil marks the first time the Americans have played the Seleção since a 2-0 loss at MetLife Stadium in the New York metropolitan area in 2018.
The USMNT led by coach Gregg Berhalter will play Brazil in a warm-up match in Orlando, FL.
It is a possible set-up for the round of 16 of the Copa América and the nations’ first match since 2018.
They only played the Copa América once in 1995, where Brazil won in the semifinals.
Brazil has a record of 18-0-1 over the United States all-time; the only defeat came in the semifinals of the 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Since then, the Brazilians have gone on a streak of eleven consecutive victories over the Americans, having played four international friendlies since 2010.
This contest could prove to be more of a test than usual for the United States, depending on how they do in the group stage.
Brazil is in Group D and is the big favorite to win the group from Colombia, Paraguay and the winner of a playoff between Costa Rica and Honduras.
Meanwhile, the USMNT is the favorite on paper to win a group consisting of Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia.
But, if the United States manages to get out of its group, but fails to win it, it will face the winners of Group D in the round of 16. That most likely means they will play Brazil.
The United States and Brazil met only once in the Copa América: in the semifinals of the 1995 tournament, where they lost to a goal from Aldair in the 13th minute.
