For the second year in a row, USC appears to have regained the lead in the transfer portal.
Austin Jones may have something to say about that, but Lloyd arrives at USC with pedigree as a starting point in the SEC. Last season at South Carolina, he totaled 749 yards and 11 touchdowns in nine games, proving he’s the kind of all-purpose threat Riley demands on his offense.
On a per-play basis, Jones’ last season average of 6.1 yards was more efficient. But he also struggled mightily with pass protection, while Lloyd is a bowling ball of a back, with about 20 extra pounds on his counterpart. Both should play important roles, but how the hierarchy plays out will be a point of intrigue leading up to the season.
