A popular American fast food chain its fans call “10/10” and “better than McDonald’s” is opening 30 new restaurants in the UK.
Famous for its delicious Louisiana fried chicken, Popeyes, which was founded in New Orleans in 1972, opened its first British branch in Stratford in 2021.
Since then, more restaurants have popped up across the country in areas such as Oxford, Nottingham and Gateshead, as the brand has expanded across the country.
There are currently 38 locations, and this is expected to almost double as 30 more branches will soon open their doors to UK customers, including restaurants, delivery and drive-through kitchens.
The brand announced the move earlier this week on its social media channels, where they wrote: “Are you all ready for more heat?”

“Get ready for over 30 new openings, including new restaurants in Manchester and Nottingham, our first delivery launch in Birmingham and our next opening in London.”
The company released a map highlighting where some of the locations will be, although not all have been announced yet.
Among the list of locations are Glasgow, Birmingham, Swansea and Manchester, with the Birmingham store also promising a home delivery kitchen.
Tom Byng, director of development at Popeyes, he told metro: ‘We’re excited to give more people the opportunity to try New Orleans for the first time as we double our estate in 2024.
“We are particularly proud of our geographic spread of expansion, including our first travel hub restaurant at Waterloo Station, which will feed hungry travelers with great food and a dose of the famous New Orleans spirit.”
Customers who have already had the opportunity to try what the fast food chain has to offer have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to reveal what they thought.
One fan claims: “Popeyes is actually one of the 10/10 best fast food chains I’ve ever had in the UK.”
Another chimed in: “Popeyes fries are better than McDonald’s.”

Meanwhile a third and a fourth added: ‘Popeyes is better than McDonald’s’ and ‘that Popeyes was 10/10’
One foodie ranked Popeyes, Wendys and McDonalds against each other, placing Popeyes at number one.
Another Brit announced: “I need to get back to @PopeyesUK soon.”
Someone else added that they ate Popeyes sweet and sour wings three times in the past week, revealing that they are “very obsessed.”
After the announcement, some fans still want more locations and have tweeted at the company insisting they expand to more areas.
Come to Wrexham! ” wrote one enthusiast, while another added: ‘You have to cover West Yorkshire!’
The chicken restaurant is the latest American fast food giant to expand its British base, after Wendy’s, Taco Bell and Wingstop entered the UK market in recent years.
The expansion also comes five years after Popeyes launched its famous chicken sandwich, a menu item that quickly went viral and sold out in stores across the United States.
He spotted clever entrepreneurs selling the sandwiches for five times the price right outside the store, after the new dish sold out nationwide just over two weeks after its launch.
Three men appeared to be trying to sell the popular burger for $20 each outside the restaurant, at an unknown location, promoting the products from a folding table.
