Urgent search for missing fisherman Darryn Kimlin comes to grim end

The search for a missing Queensland fisherman has come to a tragic end after the discovery of a body.

Darryn Kimlin, 42, was last seen leaving the Lamington Bridge boat ramp in Maryborough, northern Queensland, about 10am on Saturday.

Mr. Kimlin had embarked on a solo fishing trip.

Friends told police they expected Kimlin to return around noon Sunday.

Kimlin’s family said they spoke to him at 10 p.m. Saturday and were told he was fishing at the mouth of the river in Beaver Rock, about 25 minutes from where he left.

Marine Rescue Queensland and PolAir joined the search on Monday, locating Mr Kimlin’s 5m half-cabin fiberglass boat called Tamarumma.

The search for Mr. Kimlin continued and was suspended as night fell.

A member of the public called police at around 6.15am on Tuesday after discovering a body in the search area.

“Forensic examinations are underway to formally identify the man,” police said.

“Investigations into the circumstances of the man’s death are ongoing but at this time the death is not being considered suspicious.”
