A house collapse in New York has injured 10 people following a possible gas explosion, leaving some now fighting for their lives.
Syracuse Fire Chief Michael Monds said the occupants were transported to the hospital after the two-story home collapsed around 4 p.m.
Eight of the victims, including children, are currently in serious condition and on life support.
Monds told reporters that 46 firefighters responded to the 911 emergency call made by a resident at 205 Carbon Street.

Upon arrival, they found flames emerging from a second-story porch as the fire spread through the home and attic.
Crews used water hoses to put out the fire while additional crews began searching for anyone trapped inside.
The scene was eventually contained and the fire was extinguished after approximately 30 minutes.
The chief said they could smell gas when they arrived at the scene and found a car under the rubble.
“How that car got there, we’re not sure at this point,” Monds said.
Officials were soon able to contain the scene and the fire was declared completely extinguished after approximately 30 minutes.
A portion of the roof and a second-floor porch also collapsed due to damage, while the first floor suffered smoke and water damage.
Three adults and one child were displaced by the fire.
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh also said in another statement: “This is a tragic situation.
“This is a situation that I have not personally observed, certainly nothing of this magnitude in terms of explosion or number of victims, but there is still a lot to learn.”
Fire investigators at the scene were able to conclude that the fire started on the second floor porch. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
