Toyota urgently recalled 22,971 LandCruisers because they could potentially burn.

The affected models were sold nationwide between October 26, 2016 and February 14, 2020.

The ACCC warned that vegetation could build up in the cars, especially around the exhaust system and in the bottom.

This is especially common in cars that are often used for driving in dry vegetation environments.

If not properly and regularly removed, the filter may catch fire and burn.

For customers who own affected models ((VDJ76, VDJ78, VDJ79, between 2016-2018), each Toyota dealer will install a custom exhaust system

“If vegetation burns, there is a risk of vegetation fire, which could increase the risk of bystander injury or material damage,” the ACCC warned.

For customers who own affected models ((VDJ76, VDJ78, VDJ79, between 2016-2018), each Toyota dealer will install a custom exhaust system.

The modifications create a heat shield around parts of the exhaust, allowing owners to perform manual regeneration before visiting off-road environments.

An information booklet also provides maintenance advice.

All repairs are carried out free of charge.
