A teenager hailed as a hero for helping a woman who was being brutally attacked by a wild dog admitted being “scared to death” when he stepped in to help.
Schoolgirl Indianna Seiler, 14, saw a woman in her 50s being mutilated in a park in Upper Coomera on the Gold Coast on Monday and rushed to help.
The victim suffered serious facial injuries, but Indiana was able to use his jacket to try to stop the bleeding, while trying to calm the distraught woman.
“After seeing that there were no adults around, I tried to help as best I could,” the high school student said. 7news.

Other students used their school bags to keep the dog at bay while Indiana called for help from triple-0.
“The moment I didn’t feel brave, I was scared to death,” she said.
Her mother, Monique Coonan, said Indiana was “covered in blood” but had potentially helped save the woman’s life.
“The nurse said that if Indi hadn’t done what she did and applied the pressure she did as quickly as she did, that woman might not have been in the position she was in,” Ms Coonan said.
The woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, Queensland Ambulance Service said.
Gold Coast Council is investigating what happened and said the dog has been confiscated.
