The NBA world has been enthralled all week with the idea of Miami Heat SF/SG Jimmy Butler becoming available in trade rumors. Kevin O’Connor joins Yahoo Sports NBA contributor Tom Haberstroh as always on Fridays to discuss a handful of landing spots, which ones look likely, which ones don’t, and which teams, surprisingly, haven’t been mentioned at all.
As Tom highlighted in this week’s episode of The great numberCities like Houston and Golden State make a lot of sense for the six-time All-Star, but Kevn has other ideas for the eccentric Butler. To further complicate matters, Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee, had a public dispute with ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania over coverage of the news. Kevin and Tom explain the complicated player-team-agent-reporter dynamic.
Later in the show, the guys talk about the Houston Rockets’ one-point victory Wednesday night over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Cup quarterfinals, and how a single late-game penalty It almost ruined everything.
To conclude the episode, the guys look forward to the NBA Cup semi-final games between the aforementioned Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference and the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks in the East.
