A six-generation apple farmer has been identified as the man who died in a quad bike accident.
Ashley Graham Mason, 92, died in the Adelaide Hills, and South Australian Police said the accident happened on private property in Forest Range about 9am on Friday.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition but died on Saturday.
Mr. Mason’s family operates AG & HC Mason, a sixth-generation orchard that produces several varieties of apples such as Pink Lady, Granny Smith and Fuji on its 21.9 hectares of land, it was reported. The advertiser.
The Mason family were one of the first families to live in the Forest Range in the Adelaide Hills and also grow other fruits.
The 92-year-old grandfather (pictured) was a sixth-generation apple and fruit grower from the Adelaide Hills.
The quad bike accident occurred on Friday (pictured, emergency crews on scene), but the farmer died from his injuries the next day in hospital.
Grandfather was known for taking a traditional approach when working in the garden and doing everything he could by hand.
The orchard is now run by Mr Mason’s son, Noel, and two cousins.
Fruit Producers SA chief executive Grant Piggott described the 92-year-old farmer as a “stalwart” of the apple industry and was well respected in the community.
“His family operates one of the best orchards in the state,” Mr. Piggott said. The advertiser.
