Roger Paje, 48, who works as a chainsaw operator, is accused of killing Eduardo Rosquitos, 30, a married construction worker from Poblacion in the Philippines.

The victim's colleague, fellow construction worker Edgardo Canete, claims that he had barely escaped by jumping out of a window.

PLT. Isidoro Ancero Jr., police chief of Culaba said the three men started drinking together at 8 o'clock on Sunday.

Witness Canete said that they had fallen asleep on the floor of the house and that he woke up around 1 p.m.

He claims that he opened his eyes to see how Paje approached the sleeping victim and seriously mutilated him. He died immediately.

Canete jumped out of a window and fled the house in the village of Bool East, on the island of Biliran.

Paje was arrested when the authorities arrived on the spot and is being held at Culaba Municipal Police Station.

Paje claims he was sleepwalking and dreamed of cutting down a coconut tree, according to the Manila Bulletin. Lt. Ancero said the witness told him that the suspect's eyes were closed while he was committing the crime.
