A business owner has revealed the incredible amount he earns from tinting windows.

Popular job search app Getahead stopped trading on the streets of Brisbane’s CBD last week.

The clip began with the interviewer asking the man, who was wearing a simple T-shirt and shorts, what he did for a living and how much he earned.

“I own my own business and I probably make about $4 million a year,” he said.

Turnover generally refers to a company’s gross revenue without subtracting costs, as opposed to profits.

The businessman added that he has been in the window tinting business for more than 25 years.

“I just started kicking a milk crate and tinting cars when I was young,” he said.

He built his company focusing on commercial and residential work.

He also emphasized the importance of “honesty and a good personality” in staff and that he generally hires workers through word of mouth rather than online advertisements.

“We’ve done a little bit of SEEK and stuff before and stuff, but to be honest, it hasn’t been that successful,” the man added.

Its high rotation left viewers shocked.

‘Am I the only one who doesn’t make millions a year?’ one wrote.

Another added: “I would never have thought the dye would cause such rotation.” Well done though.’

A third wrote: “I do pressure cleaning and I make between 1000 and 2500 a day and I still haven’t made my first million dollars.”

However, recent data shows Australians are earning more than ever.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed in August that those earning less than six figures are now considered lower-than-average earners.

The average full-time salary without bonuses or overtime stood at $100,017 in May, and four in ten sectors now have salary levels typically in the six-figure range.

It is the first time the typical Australian worker earns more than $100,000 a year.

This individual can now borrow $520,087, meaning they can buy a $650,109 home with a 20 per cent mortgage deposit.

That average worker can buy a mid-priced apartment on their own in all major capital cities except Sydney.

But a mid-priced house is out of their reach, unless they went to Darwin or an outer suburb of Hobart.

Across the labor market, wages grew by 4.1 per cent over the last financial year, just above the inflation rate of 3.8 per cent.
