It feels like a terribly long time since Arsene Wenger bid farewell to the Arsenal fans at Huddersfield after his last game in charge at the end of last season.

Now the new season is almost here, with Unai Emery in the lead and a large number of signings ready to debut.

Emery supervised the training under the rain at London Colney on Thursday, as he prepares for a baptism of fire against current champions Manchester City this weekend.

Emery will look for a quick start to his newly inherited squad after having worked well in the preseason.

Emery started his new regime with a wide friendly 8-0 victory over Boreham Wood before traveling abroad to participate in the International Champions Cup.

In their first game of the pre-season tournament, Arsenal managed to keep Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw before losing to penalties against the Spanish giants.

Emery followed with a 5-1 defeat of Paris Saint-Germain's youth before beating London's Chelsea rivals on penalties to see them finish third in the ICC.

However, the former PSG boss will be knocked down in the background when he faces Premier League champions Manchester City in Emirates within four days.

Then, Arsenal will have two consecutive matches in London against Chelsea and West Ham to crown a hectic month for the club.
