The most heated confrontation in college football on Saturday came through one man.

Cameron Blankenship, Louisiana-Monroe offensive line coach was seen freaking out on one of his players, offensive lineman Drew Hutchinson, during a 28-23 loss to Marshall.

It’s unclear what specifically triggered it, but Blankenship jumped up angrily, tried to put on his headphones and followed Hutchinson to the bench area, where he shoved the redshirt sophomore. Blankenship stopped only after another player intervened and shoved him.

Monroe ran the ball well against Marshall, averaging 6.8 yards per carry from non-quarterbacks, but three sacks, three 3-pointers and an interception kept them down long enough to lose to the Thunder Herd despite outscoring them overall.

The Blankenship issue did not arise in ULM edited video of head coach Bryant Vincent’s post-game press conferencealthough the program noted that it was feeling some criticism from limiting replies to your final score tweet. They have not done it in other losses.

ULM subsequently issued a statement calling Blankenship’s behavior “unacceptable” and promising internal disciplinary action against the coach. The program did not provide any details.

By the ULM websiteBlankenship is in his first season as the Warhawks’ offensive line coach and has worked in the same position with New Mexico and UAB. Hutchinson is in his first year seeing game action after redshirting in 2022 and seeing no playing time as a freshman last year.
