The UK housing market has had its busiest year since the tumultuous pre-financial crisis days of 2007.

According to real estate portal Zoopla, about one in 16 private homes will have changed hands by the end of the year.

This is up from one in 20 in 2019, before the pandemic hit.

Average home prices rose 6.9 percent year-on-year in October, down slightly from more than 7 percent in August and September, but the average growth rate over the past three months is still higher than at any time since 2014.

Zoopla expects the pace of price growth to slow but predicts it will still rise by 3 percent by the end of 2022.
