UFC becomes the latest sport to delve into the world of cryptocurrency after announcing a partnership with blockchain platform Socios, joining football giants Barcelona and PSG … with followers who will have input on action in the Octagon using from Fan Tokens
UFC has become the latest sport to get involved in the cryptocurrency and blockchain world to bring fans closer to the action than ever before.
Dana White’s ultimate fighting empire has announced a partnership with leading blockchain provider Socios, allowing loyal followers to acquire $ UFC Fan Tokens which in turn provide unique opportunities to make important decisions within the sport itself.
Fan Tokens are minted on the Chiliz blockchain and are intended to give owners access to exclusive content and opportunities on Socios.com such as fan votes, VIP rewards, exclusive promotions, AR features, chat forums, games and competitions.

WHAT ARE NFTs?

NFT stands for “non-fungible token” and can technically contain anything digitally, including drawings, animated GIFs, songs, or video game items.
An NFT can be unique, like a real painting, or a copy of many, like trading cards, but the blockchain keeps track of who owns the file.
The $ UFC Fan Token is scheduled to launch on Socios.com in June and will have a maximum lifetime supply of 20 million.
UFC will join a strong network that now includes 26 major sports clubs and organizations around the world that have partnered with Chiliz to launch Fan Tokens, including European football princess Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Manchester City.
AC Milan, Juventus, Roma and Atletico Madrid are also among the sports teams using the tokens, in a market now worth nearly £ 300 million, rising.

Last January, the sports world saw one of the first influences of blockchain and Fan Token on the big stage, after Juventus fans used Chilliz to take over the matchday lineup and change the club’s long-standing goal song.

More recently, the French giants saw PSG fans select a custom captaincy message using Fan Tokens, which are now part of the club to this day.
