UFC star Sean Strickland has admitted he suffers from “mental discomfort” in a rare honest confession posted to social media.
Fans have become accustomed to the former middleweight champion’s controversial and outspoken stances, such as his recent online rant that included a homophobic slur.
However, the American MMA star took to social media to share a video on a completely different topic – as he admitted his mental health struggles.
Speaking on Instagram, Strickland said, “All week I’ve been screwed, man. I’ve been on Twitter saying crazy shit, just fucking spiraling.
“I woke up and I told my girlfriend, I was like, ‘Baby, I feel like I’m a danger to people.’ Like I don’t feel like I should be in the world.
UFC star Sean Strickland has admitted he is “mentally ill” in an open confession to his followers.
The American is an outspoken and controversial figure, but he chose to change that for his video.
“And I think – I have everything. I’m rich, I’m famous, I have everything I ever wanted and I’m still mentally ill.
“I get into this state of mind where I want to burn everything in the world. Like, I don’t want to have anything, so I can just lose it and bring it all down on people.
“Again, I don’t know why I’m telling you this. I just went through some bullshit. I’m doing well. It’ll be fine. I will train now and try to hurt all my friends, and all the demons will disappear.
“I just want you to know that I have everything I could want in the world and I still struggle. So whatever you’re going through, I hope you feel better. Go to the gym, work out. Damn, I wish you all the best.
Take from Xformerly known as Twitter, Strickland then wrote shortly after: “There’s always this little voice inside me that says ‘burn everything, everything.’
“Then I remember ‘you have a girlfriend, a mortgage.’ Stop, it’ll be okay, relax, move on, lock it in ‘Lmao, I swear the daily struggle…you know?!?!’.
He then spoke to X to provide more details about his “daily battle” with mental health issues.
Strickland was defeated by Dricus du Plessis in a middleweight title fight in January.
Just last week, Strickland was seen using a homophobic slur during another crude rant on social media.
On this occasion, Strickland offended a publication on his account onformerly known as Twitter, because he went on a bizarre, homophobic rant.
The former UFC champion wrote: “I view gays as a form of r*****ation… but I fully accept them.”
“Can you imagine if we saw species on this planet wake up one day and all choose to be gay”
“We would all think ‘wow, there’s clearly something wrong with this species. Why are humans exempt?
How the confession comes shortly after the American MMA star took to social media and claimed being gay was ‘like a form of r*****ation’
While many fans questioned Strickland’s post, it didn’t take long for the UFC star to return to the platform and suggest that online users “can’t take a joke.”
He continued: “Not everyone can take a joke. ARE YOU ALL F***ING HIGH OR JUST WAKE UP STUPID?!
“Why is it so difficult to admit that being gay is an anomaly? Be gay, be happy, we accept you
“BUT you are a human mammal and you fail to do the one thing all mammals want to do.” Lmao!! Come on!!’
