Jones won the UFC heavyweight title in March 2023 by submitting Ciryl Gane in Round 1.
As of Friday, a search of court records has not turned up any criminal citations or charges related to the incident. The evaluator also met with officers at another location in far northeast Albuquerque as APD investigates the allegation.
Jones is no stranger to run-ins with the law. After becoming the youngest fighter to capture UFC gold, Jones had several mishaps that led the organization to take disciplinary action and strip him of the belt.
In 2015, Jones tested positive for cocaine metabolites during an out-of-competition drug test following his UFC 182 victory over Daniel Cormier. Jones kept his title but was fined $25,000 for violating the UFC Code of Conduct and Athlete Code.
Later that year, Jones turned himself in to Albuquerque police following a hit-and-run incident, which left a pregnant woman injured. Jones was then stripped of his title and pleaded guilty to fleeing the scene where cannabis was found in his vehicle. Jones avoided jail time but served 18 months of supervised probation.
In 2016, Jones was scheduled to headline UFC 200 in a rematch with Cormier, but was pulled after being flagged by USADA for another doping violation. The failed test on July 6 resulted in a one-year suspension from the doping agency.
After his fight with Alexander Gustafsson was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in September 2021, Jones was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with misdemeanor battery and tampering with a vehicle.

Jones was scheduled to fight Stipe Miocic in November before suffering a pectoral injury.
Tom Aspinall won interim title and campaigns to unify belts with Jones in next fight
The arrest came after a domestic disturbance in which Jones’ then-fiancee, Jessie Moses, told police that the UFC star put his hands on her and she was seen with blood on her clothes. The couple went their separate ways in February 2022.
As officers handcuffed him, Jones repeatedly called a police officer a “nerd” and told him, “I hate you!”
‘Why are you doing this?’ Jones says in a clip of the arrest. ‘This is so humiliating. I got the Hall of Fame tonight and then you’re going to put me in this walking down the street.
Jones also accused the officers of racial profiling and exclaimed, “Brother, hang me, hurt me and kill me.” What did I do? Can’t a black man drink? Getting elected to the Hall of Fame and this is what I got?
He then proceeded to hit the hood of the police car with his head, causing a dent in the vehicle.
Jones made her heavyweight debut in March 2023 and won the vacant title from Ciryl Gane via submission. She was scheduled to fight Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden in November before suffering a pectoral injury in training camp.
Jones remains the undisputed heavyweight king as he recovers from his surgery. Meanwhile, British heavyweight star Tom Aspinall holds the interim championship in his absence.
