Although Derrick Lewis’ knockout wasn’t a surprise to fans, it surprised the audience by sending them into a frenzy after his win at UFC St. Louis.
The Black Beast scored a third-round knockout over Rodrigo Nascimento in Saturday night’s main event at the Enterprise Center. After the victory, Lewis, 39, took off his shorts, a celebration that has been his signature since his infamous post-fight interview at UFC 229 in 2018.
This time, the fan favorite went one step further. After waving his shorts and using them to fan Nascimento as he rested on the mat, Lewis threw his cup at the media table and sent the audience into a frenzy.
After the celebration, fans on social media were divided between amusement and disgust at his display.
“There goes half of her bag,” one fan suggested. Another reacted by saying: “What a disgusting act by Lewis.”

On the contrary, another user wrote: ‘Great match! Lewis is a beast! He earned it!’
“Derrick Lewis is my spirit animal,” a fourth wrote, encouraging Lewis’ actions.
With the win, Lewis made up for his loss to Jailton Almerida in November 2023. He also improved his record to 28-12-1 (WL-NC).
With 23 knockouts in his career, the 12th-ranked heavyweight extended the record for most knockouts in the UFC with his 15th. After the victory, Lewis continued attacking his opponent on his post fight interview.
“I couldn’t let any Brazilian taxi driver beat me,” Lewis joked. “This is the first time I’ve heard of this guy.”

After his victory, Lewis joked about being “too old” to continue knocking out other heavyweights.
When asked who he would like to fight next, Lewis joked about “getting too old” to fight despite recently saying he is in his prime.
“Shit, what are you talking about,” he told Michael Bisping. ‘I’m going to sit down for a second, I’m getting too old for this shit. But I don’t know, we’ll see.’
‘I’m in my prime, but did you see that shit? “You don’t see many people in their late 40s doing things like that.”
