UFC legend Mark Coleman released from hospital – a week after nearly dying while rescuing his parents from a house fire: ‘My lungs are sore. My eyes are burnt… but I’m alive!’

UFC legend Mark Coleman was released from the hospital a week after saving his parents from a house fire and nearly dying himself.

In his childhood home in Toledo, Ohio, Coleman was supposedly woken up by his dog, Hammer, to find the house engulfed in flames.

He was left in critical condition after managing to save his parents (but unfortunately not Hammer), and said Monday that he is “healing very well.”

‘My lungs hurt. “My eyes are burned but I’m alive and well,” he captioned a Instagram video. ‘I feel so blessed that it is in the hands of my higher powers. He wants me to move forward today and I do. I am overwhelmed by the love and support I have received, if I had one wish it would be to be able to meet each and every one of you to give you a big hug and thank you in person.’

In the clip, Coleman adds, “I’m so grateful to be here today.” I am so blessed. I am one of the luckiest men in the world. I can’t thank you all enough. I am very grateful.

‘I will continue to try to motivate people to move forward and be a better version of themselves. You never know when you’re going to need it, so let’s start today. Tomorrow is not promised. Move!’

According ‘MMA Detective’ Mark DavisColeman was initially intubated and sedated after being airlifted to Fremont Hospital.

Two days later, the retired MMA star reacted in the hospital when images on his Facebook account showed him laughing and hugging members of his family.

“I had to make a decision,” he said. ‘Once I left my room and went to the door it was horrible, I couldn’t breathe. I almost had to leave, but I went in and bought them. I can’t believe it.’

In another Instagram video posted Sunday, Coleman said her dog, Hammer, was found under the bed with no burn marks and had died from smoke inhalation.

Coleman said he would have died if he had spent “one more second” in the burning house.

He added of his parents: “My mom and dad have always been my heroes.” They have never left my side in 59 years. I’m lucky to have been in this position to save them, because I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if they had died.’

Underneath his video post on Sunday, fellow MMA fighter Matt Brown wrote: ‘Damn hero.’ I love you brother!’

Meanwhile, one of Coleman’s daughters, Kenzie, also wrote an emotional comment.

“I couldn’t imagine a day without you,” he said. ‘I love you dad you have been my hero since day 1’.

Coleman has three daughters: one with her current partner and two from a previous marriage.
