UEFA’s Champions League Fantasy Football Team of the Season features four Chelsea and Man City players
No Messi, Ronaldo OR Neymar make the cut in UEFA’s Champions League Fantasy Football Team of the Season … with Chelsea and Man City both with four picks – while Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah leads the attack with Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé
- UEFA has unveiled their Champions League Fantasy Football Team for the term
- European champions Chelsea and number two Man City each have four players
- Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was the best performing player overall
Newly crowned European holders Chelsea have included four players on the UEFA Champions League fantasy football team of the season.
The Blues are the toast of the continent following their 1-0 win over Manchester City in Saturday’s showpiece in Porto.
Edouard Mendy, Antonio Rudiger, captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Jorginho all started the final over the weekend and that quartet made the cut.

Midfielder Jorginho (right) is the fourth and last player to be included from Chelsea
The team is made up of this season’s highest-grossing players in the official UEFA Champions League Fantasy game and the above four fit quite well into this category.
Goalkeeper Mendy was the top-performing player with 66 points, while Rudiger was the top-scoring defender with 63 points.
Center-back Rudiger is part of a back four with Azpilicueta on left back and Manchester City right back Kyle Walker and center-back Ruben Dias.
Jorginho forms the basis of the three midfielders after obtaining 57 points. Both sides of him are City duo Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden – meaning the defeated finalists also have four representatives. Foden is the highest rated midfielder with 65 points.
Despite goalkeeping, defense and midfield being a duopoly of Chelsea and Manchester City, neither side is represented in the attack.

In the front three berths are Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé.
Liverpool star Salah is the top-rated striker with 63 points, while Borussia Dortmund’s star striker Erling Haaland finished as the season’s top scorer with 10 goals in eight games.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Mbappé had another impressive season in Europe with eight goals and three assistance as the French giants reached the semi-finals.
With those front three in place, it meant perennial superstars Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar all missed.
Messi’s Barcelona was dumped by PSG in the last 16, while Ronaldo’s Juventus was eliminated by Porto at the same stage. Meanwhile, Neymar has been eliminated by his PSG teammate Mbappé as well as Haaland and Salah.
