Uber passenger killed in Brisbane hit-and-run identified as Ryan Grafton

The man who died in an alleged hit-and-run while traveling in an Uber has been identified as tributes pour in from heartbroken family and friends.

Ryan Grafton, 30, died after a Ford Mondeo sedan collided with a Toyota Camry, at the intersection of Boundary Road and Progress Road in Wacol, 22km south-west of Brisbane’s CBD, at 2.15am on Tuesday.

Paramedics attended the scene but Mr Grafton could not be saved.

The two cars collided at the intersection of Boundary Road and Progress Road in Wacol, 22km southwest of Brisbane's CBD.

The driver of the ride-share vehicle, a 42-year-old man, suffered back injuries and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.

A 26-year-old woman, another passenger inside the Camry at the time of the crash, was also taken to the hospital for treatment for chest and abdominal pain.

The driver of the Ford Mondeo allegedly fled the scene and police launched a search to locate the man.

Mr Grafton’s heartbroken family told the media that his friends and loved ones would miss him.

‘Ryan was a kind person. “He wasn’t perfect but he had the biggest heart,” they said in a statement.

“He was loved by his family and friends.”

Queensland Police urged the man to come forward as Forensic Accident Unit detectives conduct investigations into the incident.
