The popular ride-sharing company announced an unprecedented new deal on Tuesday, surprisingly proposing a $9 ride to the airport, if you’re in New York City.
The attractive offer is only available at specific pickup stations in Manhattan, allowing travelers to carry their luggage to the meeting point before arriving at LaGuardia Airport.

The agreement, intended to benefit travelers looking for a cheaper option than the often-expensive taxi, does not last long as passengers will pay $9 only for their first ride, while the fare doubles to $18 for subsequent trips.

The service, which operates much like the $2.90 bus offered by New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority, is available at several New York City locations, including Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, and Port AuthorityTerminal.
The agreement, intended to benefit travelers looking for a cheaper option than the often-expensive taxi, does not last long as passengers will pay $9 only for their first ride, while the fare doubles to $18 for subsequent trips.
Additionally, the reduced rate, launched to celebrate the ride-sharing company’s new launch, will only be available for the first month of service.
Users will also share the nearly 35-minute trip with 13 additional passengers, as a luxurious Mercedes Sprinter Van will circulate every 30 minutes from 5 am to 11 pm, seven days a week.
Each truck comes fully equipped with leather seats, ambient lighting, charging ports, and air conditioning.

Travelers can request up to four seats and reserve their spot 5 minutes before departure or up to seven days before their trip.

Once booked, travelers will receive a ticket with a QR code and a unique PIN to show the driver.
As with most airlines, travelers will each be able to bring one piece of luggage, either carry-on or checked, up to 50 pounds, as well as one personal item that fits on their lap or under their seat.
Travelers can track their trip up to 25 minutes before their scheduled departure.
Since the introduction of the transportation service, now called Uber Shuttle, many critical viewers have taken to social media to share their thoughts.
‘This is called a BUS. And they already exist for a much cheaper price,” said one TikTok user about the new launch.
Another user added: “It’s a bus that costs 3 times more than normal and will be stuck in traffic from Penn Station to LGA.”
Uber Shuttle plans to provide transportation to and from other large locations in the future, as the ride-sharing company has a mission to “bring affordable transportation service to as many airports as possible,” Camiel Irving, Uber’s vice president of operations for The US and Canada told the Wall Street Journal.
