A 29-year-old Uber Eats driver is accused of spitting in a customer’s face and stealing her spooky Christmas decorations after she was confronted about stealing food from her order.
Alexsandra Del Valle Acosta Aguilar was arrested last week and taken to the Center County Jail in Bartow, Florida. She was charged with one count of petit theft and one count of grand theft of a dwelling exceeding $100, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office records.
The resident who was allegedly victimized by Acosta Aguilar placed a food order on Uber Eats on Sept. 12, 2024, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law and crime.
The woman noticed her delivery driver, who was later identified as Acosta Aguilar, “taking food out of the bag she had ordered” around 11:56 p.m., according to the affidavit.
When the woman came outside, she saw the suspect holding a sign outside her home that said “Happy Fall Everyone.”

According to an arrest affidavit, Acosta Aguilar, who worked as an Uber driver, spit in her client’s face after being confronted about stealing the alleged victim’s fall decorations and stealing the food order she was supposed to deliver.
“The victim then removed the sign from the suspect’s possession and the suspect began a verbal altercation with the victim before intentionally spitting on her against her will,” police wrote.
They continued: ‘Immediately after being spat on, the victim covered himself with the sign and retreated to the furthest point from the suspect before being stopped by the closed front door. The suspect then took possession of a decorative garden urn, valued at approximately $10, and began walking toward his vehicle.
Acosta Aguilar also allegedly loaded a ‘decorative column’ from the victim’s property into his car before driving away.
The woman then noticed that other decorations were missing from the outside of her home.
In total, the value of the allegedly stolen items amounted to $300.

According to the affidavit, Acosta Aguilar escaped before police arrived, but he would not elude capture for long.
Police were quickly able to establish that Acosta Aguilar worked for Uber Eats. The alleged victim also gave them a description of the getaway car, which matched a vehicle registered to Acosta Aguilar.
Officers arrived at Acosta Aguilar’s home, where she confirmed that she did deliver food to the woman’s home, according to the affidavit.
Police said the physical description given to them by the alleged victim matched Acosta Aguilar.
For all this, Acosta Aguilar was arrested and charged. She remains in custody and is not yet eligible for bail as of early Tuesday morning.
