An Uber driver has been accused of raping a female passenger after picking her up after work.

Mohamad Pili-Bake allegedly picked up the woman, aged in her 20s, outside a business in Sydney’s inner west about 7am on May 5. Daily Telegraph reported.

Pili-Bake, 48, is alleged to have inappropriately touched the woman during the trip, before police allege he took her to a nearby park and raped her.

The woman later reported the alleged assault to the police and went to the hospital.

Pili-Bake was arrested in Birrong, western Sydney, on May 10 and charged with sexual intercourse without consent and sexually touching another person without consent.

He appeared at Parramatta Local Court on May 11 and was refused bail. He has not yet pleaded guilty.

An Uber spokesperson said all drivers undergo a thorough screening process.

“As soon as we learned of this incident, we removed the driver’s access to the app immediately and permanently,” the spokesperson said.
