Tyrese Gibson has been taken into custody after failing to pay $10,000 a month in child support that a judge ordered him to pay to his ex Samantha Lee.
TMZ Gibson — who shares five-year-old daughter Soraya with Lee — was reportedly found guilty of contempt of court Monday morning during a hearing on the matter in Fulton County court.
The outlet reports that Judge Kevin Farmer was upset by Gibson’s refusal to make the $10,000 monthly child support payments the actor was ordered to begin paying in April 2023.
Farmer held Gibson in contempt of court on Monday, and the Fast and Furious actor was handcuffed by the bailiff and led out of the courtroom, TMZ reports.
The judge offered Gibson the chance to settle the matter and avoid jail time if he paid $73,000. That figure includes Samantha’s attorney fees, which total $7,500.
Since then, the Fulton County Public Information Officer shared with The New York Post that Gibson was “released” after being “temporarily detained” for contempt of court.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Communications Director also confirmed to the publication that the actor is not in custody.
DailyMail.com has contacted a representative for Gibson for comment.
TMZ reports that Gibson has been making payments to Lee, however, it has not been the $10,000 figure that the judge ordered him to start making last year.
The outlet reports that Gibson has been paying his ex around $2,200 each month starting in 2023.
Sources close to the case told TMZ that Gibson is currently in the process of settling the $73,000 payment.
The legal drama between Gibson and Lee has been playing out in the courts for some time.
Gibson sensed an arrest was coming during Monday’s hearing when he took to Instagram on Sunday to address the child support drama.
“At 9am in Atlanta, I could be arrested in court,” she wrote on Instagram in a now-deleted post that also alleged that Lee’s lawyers were “best friends” with Judge Farmer.
“WE ARE APPEALING ALL OF HIS RULINGS AND HAVE ALREADY TRIED TO GET THIS JUDGE REMOVED FROM THE COURT TWICE… The second time we tried to get him removed from the court. (In fact, he himself refused his own request to be removed from the beach)… can you imagine?” she wrote.

In a lengthy 15-minute video, he also shared: “I need to get myself together. I think I’m gonna go eat some Red Lobster. I’ve never been arrested. I’ve never been to jail in my life. Never. Why? Because I don’t do anything illegal,” he said, later adding that he was embroiled in “baby mama drama.”
She also insisted that “I have never stopped taking care of my children” and that she had a prenuptial agreement with Lee.
Gibson said Lee’s lawyers had been investigating his finances despite the settlement.
“Why are Samantha’s lawyers asking for all my bank statements? Why are they sending me screenshots of my IMDb page?” he said. “Leave me alone, man. I made a prenup for a reason.”
On Monday, Tyrese shared a post of his children which he captioned: ‘The love a father can have for his children cannot be explained… Whatever the outcome of today… I am and will forever be their FATHER…’
