A relationship coach has been praised for his controversial definition of what he considers cheating, but some claim his explanation is “toxic”.

Cody Bret recently revealed that several behaviors, including deleting your browsing history and adding random people on social media, count as cheating.

“If you text another person your partner wouldn’t feel comfortable with, or delete your phone’s browsing history because you don’t want your spouse to see what you’ve been looking at, that’s considered cheating.” he said.

Bret explained on Facebook that adding attractive strangers on social media is also considered infidelity.

“If you start entertaining someone else who isn’t your partner, that’s cheating,” he added.

Brett warned that it was also frowned upon to flirt with anyone other than the person you’re in a relationship with.

“If you are in a relationship right now and have unfortunately experienced these types of patterns, everything is going downhill in the near future,” he wrote.

Many agreed with him.

‘I remember feeling lonelier sitting next to my ex while he did that and getting turned on at the same time. Heartbreaking,” said one woman.

‘Very often people need and seek validation from someone other than their partner, and social media has made it easier than ever. Doing this damages relationships. Your heart hurts and it’s just sad,’ said another.

‘If you don’t do it with your partner watching over your shoulder, it’s cheating!’ added one.

But many considered the definition too “rigid” and “controlling.”

“You need to talk to your partner about what works in your relationship,” one woman advised.

“Every conversation and image should not be considered cheating,” said one man.

‘Why do people check other people’s phones? “If there is so much mistrust, there is no need to have a relationship,” added a third.

‘This isn’t high school, my husband doesn’t have to block or unfriend someone I don’t like or care about. That’s toxic.’
