Two teens in California who admitted to beating their classmate to death have been sentenced to probation.
In September 2019, the teens assaulted 13-year-old Diego Stolz at Landmark Middle School.
A cell phone showed that Stolz was beaten repeatedly before falling and hitting his head on a pillar in the schoolyard, KABC reported.
The 14-year-olds, whose names are not known, “made confessions” of allegations of involuntary manslaughter.
On Friday they were released under the custody of their parents.

A judge ruled Friday that the couple will have to undergo 150 hours of community service, enroll in therapy, and attend a character-building program.
In his ruling, Judge Roger A Luebs of the Superior Court in Riverside County rejected the Probation Department’s recommendation for imprisonment.
He said he was required by law to impose the least restrictive punishment on juvenile suspects, but still ensure that they are rehabilitated.
‘These kids don’t have enough experience with empathy. You are not the center of the world and you have to find out, ”Leubs said during his statement.
