New details have emerged in the case of an alleged home invader later involved in a police chase and alleged escape across state lines.
A man accused of shooting at police during a car chase was allegedly carrying two guns, a rifle and a grenade after a botched home invasion on New Year’s Eve.
Paea Tuiniua and Faez Finau, both 20, allegedly fled police in a stolen car after the attempted break-in at an Edensor Park home in Sydney’s southwest.
During a subsequent chase shots were allegedly fired into the bonnet of a police car and the stolen car only stopped when road spikes were used.
Tuiniua allegedly fled into bushland and escaped detection until he was detained by police at Brisbane Airport.
Following his extradition to New South Wales overnight, the 20-year-old faced charges on Tuesday of possessing military-style weapons among a series of 13 charges.
Tuiniua allegedly had during and after the home invasion a grenade, an AR15 semi-automatic rifle, a Beretta M9 9mm pistol and a Glock 19 Gen4 pistol.
Police also accuse him of carrying out the attempted home invasion to seriously injure the two occupants, a man and a woman, according to court documents seen by AAP.

By shooting at police, the 20-year-old allegedly did so to resist arrest and endangered the safety of the public and the police officer in the car that was struck, court documents say.
No police officers were injured during the shooting, but the chase ended for safety reasons.
Tuiniua’s case will next appear before Campbelltown Local Court on March 5.
Finau, the alleged driver of the stolen vehicle, has been charged with nine counts, including aggravated breaking and entering and various driving and firearms offences.
He was formally refused bail on January 1 and his matter will return to Campbelltown Local Court on February 26.
NSW Police have released CCTV footage of a man getting out of the Hyundai and attempting to break down the door of the Edensor Park home, as well as footage showing the damage caused by the alleged shooting, with holes in the bonnet of a canine patrol vehicle.
