Two people have been injured after a show car broke down in a busy shopping centre.

A BYD electric vehicle reportedly lurched backwards and collided with a glass railing while charging at Westfield Liverpool Shopping Center on Saturday.

It is understood the car backed into the Myer store and hit the two people.

Paramedics arrived and treated the injured at the scene.

A 50-year-old man was taken to Liverpool hospital with a head injury and a laceration to his forehead.

It is believed the collision also damaged beauty counters in the Myer store.
