Two injured, one suspect holed up after shooting in La Puente, authorities say

A suspect barricaded himself in a La Puente home after an officer-involved shooting occurred, authorities said.

Few details were released about the incident, but Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Michael Chen said deputies were called to Wing Lane and Azusa Avenue after receiving a call of an assault with a deadly weapon and a person seen with a weapon.

Shots were fired when officers arrived, Chen said.

Two people were injured in the incident, including a person who was blocked, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

It was not clear if one of the injured people was the suspect.

No officers have reportedly been injured, he said.

The suspect was barricaded in a house near St. Martha’s Catholic Church, Chen said.

It’s unclear if anyone else was at the home with the suspect, he said. Deputies are using the church grounds as a command post for the incident.

This is a developing story.
