Two people have died after a tire on a Delta plane exploded while being changed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
One Delta employee and one contractor died at the scene, while a second employee suffered serious injuries.
The incident occurred in the airport’s maintenance area shortly after 5 a.m. on Tuesday. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution The plane reportedly arrived in Atlanta from Las Vegas on Sunday night.

Delta Air Lines said in a statement: ‘The Delta family is heartbroken by the loss of two team members and the injury of another following an incident this morning at the Atlanta Technical Operations Maintenance Facility (TOC 3).
‘We have provided our full support to the family and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.
“The Delta family appreciates the quick response of the emergency and medical crews on scene. We are now working with local authorities and conducting a full investigation to determine what happened.”
Flights in and out of the airport have not been affected by the tragedy.
