Shakeup: BP CTO Leigh-Ann Russell leaves after 18 years
Two female executives are leaving BP in the first reshuffle since former boss Bernard Looney resigned for failing to disclose his relationships with colleagues.
Chief technology officer Leigh-Ann Russell is leaving after 18 years at the oil giant, while Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath is leaving after two years leading the company’s low-carbon and gas division. Both will be replaced by men.
The move marks the first major leadership change made by Murray Auchincloss, who replaced Looney after his sudden resignation in September.
BP was plunged into crisis when it emerged that Looney did not fully disclose to the board the relationships he had with his colleagues before becoming chief executive in 2020.
It concluded that he knowingly misled the board and was fired without notice. Looney was stripped of £32 million in wages and bonuses.
BP no longer has more women than men on its core team.
