Penrith star Taylan May is reportedly being investigated by his club after posting a video that appears to show him in a car going almost double the speed limit in a residential area.
May’s video appears to show him in a powerful Audi luxury car driving through a built-up area with the speedometer clearly showing 96 kmh.
In the images, the driver brakes hard as the vehicle approaches a pedestrian crossing and one of the passengers says: ‘Holy shit, brother!’
A link to Sydney-based car rental company Ruthless Rentals was added to the video, with distinctive tattoos on the driver’s left arm proving May is not behind the wheel.
May and Ruthless Rentals’ Instagram accounts had been deleted at the time of writing.
Footage posted to May’s Instagram account shows a high-performance Audi being driven at almost double the speed limit in a residential area (pictured).
May (pictured in a separate Instagram post) is reportedly being investigated by the Panthers as a result of the video.
Under New South Wales law, a 50kmh speed limit applies in all built-up areas of the state, unless a lower limit applies in the area, for example because there is a school nearby.
Daily Mail Australia does not accuse May of any crime.
The NRL Integrity Unit is aware of the video and the Panthers club is investigating, according to news corporation.
Last week May launched a weekly vlog on YouTubegiving his fans a glimpse into his life on and off the field.
However, the Penrith center soon posted a video on Instagram announcing that it will be “put on hold for a while” so it can “focus on my family”.
Last week, May made headlines when she revealed a stunning new tattoo to her followers on the social media platform.
He had his last name tattooed on his neck in huge letters and posted photos and images of him preparing to make the design and then showing it off on a car.
The Panthers star has no shortage of flashy ink, with the word “pain” tattooed under his right eye, a broken heart under his left, and “Meliodas,” the name of an anime character, written across his chest.
The 22-year-old recently announced that he is putting his vlog on hold to focus on his family after posting just one episode on YouTube.
May (pictured center playing against the Roosters in round four) also made headlines for her extreme neck tattoo last week.
“I’m very impulsive and I always wanted to get a face tattoo because I wanted to see how quickly people change and judge me,” he said last year.
‘Automatically, people with face tattoos are treated as if they want to be tough or as if they are scary.
“I feel like I was reaching deep inside for help at that moment, so I put ‘pain’ on my face.
‘They ask me about it and I try to avoid the question, but that’s where I was.
‘Many people judge too quickly. Sometimes that’s how I represent myself, but if you met me and chatted with me, I’d like to think I’m totally different.
May made headlines earlier this year when she left Broncos star Reece Walsh with a facial fracture in a controversial hit.
In the opening minutes of Penrith’s 34-12 round three win, May ran out of the defensive line and hit Walsh just after the Broncos’ No.1 had passed the ball, with the pair butting heads.
Walsh fell to the turf bleeding from his face and, despite passing a head injury evaluation, was unable to continue playing.
