Some people joked that Morrison looked as young as a child he accidentally accosted on Wednesday. Both Mr Morrison and the boy were uninjured and high-fived after the accidental collision (pictured).

Twitter trolls have used Scott Morrison, who accidentally threw a child during a football match, as an excuse to attack him, even though the child was unharmed and laughed at the “bulldozer”.

Morrison visited the Devonport Strikers football club, which is in the Tasmanian electorate of Braddon, on Wednesday.

Just a few days ago, the Prime Minister frankly admitted that he is “a bit of a bulldozer”.

The Prime Minister joked: “I’m surprised they haven’t taken him to hospital.”

The boy, who was “tackled” by Mr Morrison, appeared on Today alongside his grandmother Joy to discuss the tackle, with the boy telling co-hosts it was “good”.

“We were playing soccer and I think someone tried to pass it to me or Mr. Morrison and what happened was he tripped and was trying not to fall on top of me,” Luca said on air.

'He launched a reboot this week to get some good press, which brings us to the latest Morrison news: Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison tackled a child to the ground during an election photo op. To which his campaign responded, "Can we get back to pooping at McDonald's?"' Colbert joked.

The prime minister accidentally fell on top of the boy named Luca, but both were unharmed after the collision.

Ouch: Colbert mocked the Prime Minister for accidentally throwing a child during a soccer match this week, during a visit to the Devonport Strikers Soccer Club.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison accidentally runs over a child during a visit to the Devonport Strikers football club, in the electorate of Braddon, on May 18, 2022.

“So he tried to fall under me.”

Luca said Morrison called him a “good sport” after the incident.

“I think I could see how (Morrison) was trying to protect him and keep his own body from hurting him,” his grandmother Joy said.

“Then Luca got up shortly after and I could see he was fine.”

Luca then revealed that Morrison had called him earlier that day to check if he was “okay”, adding that “he must be a big football fan”.

Luca then showed a red card, stating that Morrison should have received a penalty.

Opposition leader Anthony Albanese said he was glad “that boy is okay.”

“It was clearly not on purpose,” Albanese said.

While the boy laughed off the incident, some turned it into a political opportunity to score points.

‘WTAF? As an elementary school teacher, I would probably get suspended if I did that! He is a big, heavy man. That’s dangerous. He’s from another planet,” Kate Stanner tweeted.

‘Proving his ineptitude once again… …it’s sad that he repeated this comment SO MANY TIMES!!’ Bill Falknau wrote on Facebook.

Surely this guy won’t be able to survive after Saturday. It is a national and international shame,” added Cody Murray.

However, others jumped to Scott Morrison’s defense.

“It seemed like his only thought was for the child’s safety, it’s good how he held the child and rolled to land on the ground and not the child,” Sue Tidey said.

‘ScoMo played a sport with some kids. They stumbled, he picked up the child and fell himself protecting him. Totally nothing and innocent. Really endearing and friendly, he took the time to play. Move on!’ Louise Ward added.
