Bird brain! Territorial turkey goes to the mail truck and chases him around the neighborhood while delivering
- A turkey was caught chasing a mail truck in Madison, Wisconsin
- The video was recorded by amused onlookers driving in the back of the car
- Turkeys will often try to attack or frighten those who threaten their dominance
Dogs are usually the normal nuisance for mail carriers, but no one told this territorial turkey in Madison, Wisconsin.
Hilarious footage shows the bird chasing a USPS truck down the street, then blocking the road as it tried to make a turn.
The video was shot on July 23 by a highly amused man and woman in a car following the truck.
“It’s so funny to watch,” the woman commented as they watched the turkey pick up the pace.
When the truck reached the end of the street, the turkey caught up with him and started running next to it.
The truck tried to turn left, but the turkey soon got in the way.
The videographers then watched the intrepid turkey try to “righten” against the truck as it began to spin.
They laughed one last time when they saw the turkey chase the truck as they watched from the back of the car window.

YouTube users shared the couple’s fun.
One viewer said, “The fact that the turkey is following the mail truck is weird, but what’s even weirder is the fact that there’s a wild turkey in a suburb.”
Another joked, “The turkey was very upset that the baster he ordered had been delayed.”
Male turkeys want to prove their dominance by chasing people or objects as they would any other turkey
Wild turkeys are considered natives in certain parts of Wisconsin.
The birds, especially the males, assert their dominance by chasing or attacking people or large objects, as they would with any other turkey.
In 2019, a very tenacious turkey started tracking another USPS truck in Waukesha, Wisconsin, almost every day.
Mailman Jeff Byrne told Today’s TMJ4, “For the last month or so he’s been chasing the truck and when it stops, it circles around me.”
The postman had to wear a blow horn to get the turkey off the truck when it became a routine occurrence.
