A 2.1 magnitude earthquake has struck a town in far north Queensland.

Residents of Tully, 750 kilometers north of Brisbane, were left shaken after the earthquake struck 8.7 kilometers from the city at around 8.02pm on Tuesday.

One local said the sound was “like a big fire lighting up,” while others said the impact rattled dishes in the sink and shook the ground.

More to come.
