Tullamarine: Father who called triple-0 after wife and kids died, waited for police in front yard

A father who called triple-0 after his wife and three young children were found dead in their home waited on his front yard for emergency personnel to arrive.

Emergency services were called to the house on Burgess Street, Tullamarine at around 12:30 PM on Thursday.

There they found the bodies of 43-year-old Katie Perinovic and three children – Claire, seven, Anna, five, and Matthew, three.

The 48-year-old father of the children, Tomislav Perinovic, is a ‘person of interest’ and assists the police in investigations. He has yet to be formally interviewed.

He was found by ambulance workers in the front yard of the house, according to the Herald Sun.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Robert Hill said that while the investigation is still in its infancy, the woman and her children “died in suspicious circumstances.”

“Who is responsible for the deaths of the four people has yet to be determined and we should not draw any conclusions at this point,” he said.

He said it would be “extremely unfair” to assume blame on the grounds that the father is assisting the police.

“We just need to understand the facts, and unfortunately they are not known to us, but they will be in full time,” he said.

“We still have a long way to go before we can really understand and appreciate what happened.”

It is clear that the father appeared ‘extremely upset’ on the street when the emergency services arrived on the scene.

“He was desperate on the street,” a witness told The Herald Sun.
