Former President Donald Trump’s “motherhood issues” were on full display in his Monday night interview with Elon Musk, a former FBI agent said.
At one point in the rambling discussion, the 78-year-old Republican presidential nominee was commenting on a Time magazine cover story about his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, when he bizarrely compared the Democrat to his wife, Melania.
He accused Harris, 59, of getting “a free ride” from the press as she continues to avoid media interviews, when he casually remarked that Harris resembles his wife.
“But I saw a picture of her in Time magazine today. She looks like the most beautiful actress who ever lived,” Trump said.
“It was a drawing. And it actually looked a lot like a great first lady: Melania.”
Former President Donald Trump bizarrely compared his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, to his wife during a confusing interview with Elon Musk on Monday.
Former FBI agent Asha Rangappa said the comment was evidence of Trump’s “mommy issues.”
He continued to mispronounce the vice president’s name, repeatedly referring to her as “Camilla.”
“She didn’t look like Camilla,” Trump said. “That’s correct.
“But of course, she’s a beautiful woman. So we’ll leave it at that.”
Americans across the country watched the exchange live, with many taking to social media to say they found Trump’s comments about the vice president off-putting.
Former FBI agent Asha Rangappa, however, did not appear surprised by the former president’s comments.
“I KNEW IT. His brain is short-circuiting because she’s attractive and formidable,” he said. published in X.
“Haha, it’s finished.”

She said the cover drawing “looked a lot like a great first lady: Melania.”
She said the former president “recognizes and is a little bit afraid of — and in a weird way, craves the approval of — strong, intelligent women,” adding that there are “some motherhood issues there.”
Rangappa also claimed that Trump equates attractive women with being “dumb or weak” so that he can “sexualize, exploit and discard them.”
Trump has been accused in the past of having “mother issues.” Former President Barack Obama said at his second annual Obama Foundation Summit in 2018 that progress is hampered in the United States because “we are still confused, blind, wrapped up in hate, anger, racism (and) mother issues.”
Many in attendance and in the media took it as an attack on then-President Trump, as it came just months later. Politico magazine published an article titled ‘Donald Trump’s problems with his mother’.
In the article, author Peter Lovenheim argues that his apparent inability to bond with his mother may have played a role in Trump’s personal and professional life.
Trump has been accused in the past of having so-called “mother issues.” He is pictured (left) with his parents and sister, Maryanne.
It notes that Trump’s mother, Mary Anne Trump, suffered a life-threatening illness when the former president was just a toddler.
With his mother incapacitated by illness and his father, Frederick Trump, never home as he focused on building his real estate empire, Lovenheim posits that Trump never managed to establish a successful bond with a primary caregiver as a child.
He said such a problem can lead to two common psychological issues: either an individual develops “attachment anxiety, which leads him or her as an adult to desire intimacy but have difficulty seeking security; or he or she has attachment avoidance, where as an adult, he or she is generally distrustful of others and convinces himself or herself that he or she does not need close relationships.”
Lovenheim argued at the time that Trump was showing signs of attachment avoidance, pointing to what she described as the former president’s sense of self-importance and inability to acknowledge self-doubt; his boasting about sexual encounters; and the fact that he has had multiple marriages and very few close friends.
The author also cited the numerous flattering comments Trump has made over the years about his mother, calling her “fantastic,” “tremendous,” “very warm” and “very loving,” but citing a lack of memories from his early childhood to back up those sentiments.
