Trump’s border officials ‘happy’ that Kamala is not near the border: she would make the crisis ‘worse’

Former Trump Homeland Security officials say they are “ happy ” that Vice President Kamala Harris is approaching the border from afar, claiming that if she got involved, she would make the crisis worse.

“ I’m glad she’s nowhere near the border, ” Commissioner Mark Morgan, acting Trump-era Customs and Border Protection (CBP), told DailyMail.com during a panel discussion with the Heritage Foundation on Tuesday.

“Honestly,” he continued, “I think if she does what she has to do as an anointed border guard, she will only make the crisis worse.”

Along with Morgan, former Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli and former Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf joined the discussion with the conservative think tank where all three fellows visit.

Vice President Harris has come under a lot of criticism for not yet visiting the southern border, despite being put in charge of the crisis 20 days ago. President Biden has also not gone to the US-Mexico border as he is nearing his third month in office.

Morgan pointed to Harris’s lax immigration policy as one reason why she should stay involved as little as possible. He noted that she helped make California a so-called “ sanctuary state ” while she was attorney general by refusing to cooperate with federal authorities to hand over illegal immigrants into the state.

“This is a former Senator Harris who referred to ICE as the KKK during a congressional testimony, basically calling them ICE agents racists,” Morgan slapped the vice president. “She goes on and says ICE needs to be dismantled and start all over again.”

Cuccinelli told DailyMail.com during the panel discussion that no one in the government wants to take ownership of the massive failure on the southern border.

“This is a political hot potato within the government,” said Cuccinelli.

“None of them want it,” he added. That’s why the president threw it to the vice president, that’s why he didn’t visit the border, even though he caused the problem. That’s why she won’t touch it, she won’t talk about it, she won’t go to the border, she won’t get anywhere near it.

Cuccinelli said those in the White House “are all more afraid of the radical left than they are committed to solving the problem.”

“By a long shot – it’s not even close,” he insisted.

Biden has adopted a much smoother immigration approach than his predecessor – as evidenced by a slew of Trump-critics DHS nominees the president announced Monday.

However, this policy has quickly led to a humanitarian crisis as a record number of migrants from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador arrive at the border every day – including nearly 20,000 unaccompanied minors in US custody.

“We told you that,” Morgan said.

Wolf added that although Harris was put in charge of the border, White House reporting was all wrong, leading to concussions among the public and the DHS and border officials and agents.

“The administration must make it clear who is in charge,” insisted Wolf. Is it the DHS secretary, is it the White House, is it the vice president? Because I can tell you that the men and women in the field are confused too. ‘

“I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to in the department who have no idea who’s in charge,” he said. Who should they listen to, who should they take charge of? They don’t know – and if they don’t know, that’s a problem. ‘

In the three weeks since Kamala Harris was dubbed “Border Tsar”, she has not attended or held a press conference

Biden announced a string of new nominees on Monday who will lead the border and immigration efforts. This includes wiretapping Chris Magnus, Tucson, Arizona Police Chief to lead the Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP).

Magnus was outspoken in his criticism of Trump and how he and one-time Attorney General Jeff Sessions dealt with immigration.

The harsh anti-immigrant rhetoric and reckless policies of Mr. Sessions ignore a fundamental reality known to most good cops and prosecutors, “Magnus wrote in a 2017 op-ed.” When people fear the police, they fear being separated from their families, or harsh interrogation on based on their immigration status, they will not report crimes and act as witnesses. ‘

Another appointee includes fellow anti-Trumper Ur Jaddou who is in charge of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

President Joe Biden released a sudden tweet on Monday defending Harris amid mounting criticism over her failure to visit the border and after GOP Senator John Cornyn asked who was in charge of the White House.

“ When I served as vice president, I asked to be the last person with the president before any big decisions were made – and @VP gives me the same advice, ” Biden wrote. “She is the last voice in the room and never speaks the truth as we work to build our nation better.”

He added a photo of the couple arguing in the Oval Office.
