A Trump supporter was beaten to a pulp in an upstate New York supermarket on Friday, in the latest incident of election mania to hit the United States.
According to police, perpetrator Robert Yott attacked anonymous MAGA worshipers at Tops Friendly Market in Bath, near Buffalo.
Police say he attacked the unnamed victim so violently that he broke his teeth.
Blood was pouring from the shopper’s mouth when police arrived at him at 10am.
The small police department that oversees the town where it occurred described the altercation in question in a statement, saying it “appears to be a random act of violence.”
Robert Yott, 60, was arrested after the incident at an upstate supermarket on Friday, charged with assault.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. at this Tops Friendly, where Yott ran into the victim and allegedly punched him after confronting him about his Trump 2024 hat.
“On (Nov. 1), around 10:00 a.m., the Bath Police Department was dispatched to a fight at Tops Friendly Markets.” the press release The Village of Bath Police Department said.
‘It was determined that (Yott)… initiated (the) confrontation with (the) stranger inside Tops, after becoming aggressive over the fact that the stranger was wearing a Trump 2024 hat.
“(Yott) punched the victim in the mouth and head several times, causing his teeth to break and his mouth to bleed,” Saturday’s statement continued.
“(Yott) was not known to the victim and this appears to be a random act of violence.”
The statement added how Yott lives in Bath, a small city of 5,000 people located in Steuben County.
He also laid out the charges against him, which include second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
The latter is a misdemeanor that warrants a maximum sentence of up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
The assault charge, however, is much more serious and could see the perpetrator, who just last month pleaded with members of the public who survived the unpopular war, to come and see him spend the next few years in prison.
An unrelated supporter of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump dons a MAGA hat at a campaign event last year. The police department in Bath, a small city in upstate New York, confirmed that the suspect was upset by the victim’s choice of clothing.
Speaking to the Elmira Star-Gazette in October, Yott explained that his search had already seen him talk to 85 Vietnam veterans.
“I want people to be aware of what we wanted those guys to go through,” he told the newspaper in an article published on October 10.
“It was determined that (Yott)… initiated (the) confrontation with a stranger inside Tops, after becoming aggressive over the fact that the stranger was wearing a Trump 2024 hat,” police said. Yott’s mugshot is seen here.
‘I’m not going to reject anyone.
“People don’t realize the effect the war had,” he continued, revealing that 72 stories about service members killed in combat were half-finished.
“A lot of the kids I talked to wanted to share,” he explained.
“If we don’t know their stories, we will lose them.”
The Star-Gazette reported that the purpose of the project, in Yott’s words, was to give a voice to those who served in an “unpopular war but were dishonorably rewarded.”
Yott added that he plans to use profits made from the book to build benches dedicated to those who served in the conflict throughout the community.
He said he plans to finish the tome sometime in 2025. If published, it would be the fourth book in the registered Democrat’s oeuvre.
It would also be the fourth about some form of military history, with others including 2016’s ‘Soldier’s Fight, Veteran’s Vote’ and The New York State Soldiers Home.
The latter contains stories from New York State residents who served in the military. The first, however, surrounds a conspiracy that “political leaders manipulated the events leading up to the Civil War, the war itself, and the Reconstruction era that followed.”
“It is no coincidence that the reader notices similarities between the political events of 150 years ago and those of today,” states a synopsis seen online.
“And just like today, by capitalizing on the patriotism of the American people, elected officials of yesteryear fought to keep the country divided to ensure the preservation of the party and advance their own agenda.”
A 2016 Yott book revolves around a conspiracy according to which “political leaders manipulated the events leading up to the Civil War, the war itself, and the Reconstruction era that followed.”
The book also discusses how government officials of the time allegedly “took advantage of the patriotism of soldiers, veterans, and the American public to keep the country divided.” and ‘they used the Divide and Rule tactic to ensure their own political existence.
A reader review published Sunday criticizes Yott’s understanding of the story as “questionable… at best” and a “deliberate misrepresentation of history at worst.”
“The author truly believes his conclusions about the historical events and parallels he sees, which is irresponsible,” he continues, awarding it one star.
“There’s a reason they posted this themselves.”
Another criticizes the 240-page work as “inaccurate nonsense” and wonders if it was the work of AI. “Do better,” the reader concluded, also awarding it a star.
As for Yott, he was in a Steuben County Jail cell over the weekend, awaiting his arraignment.
Police confirmed he was being held without bail, although it was unclear as of Monday whether he had since been released.
DailyMail.com has contacted the Steuben County Jail for an update.
When contacted by Morning, the Bath Police Department was unable to immediately provide an update.
DailyMail.com also emailed Yott, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The incident is not the first time someone has been attacked by images associated with the former president, seen here sporting a black version at a rally in Georgia last Sunday. The recent physical altercation is under investigation, police said.
The incident is not the first time someone has been attacked over images associated with the former president. The assaults occurred in Massachusetts and New Jersey in June and April, respectively.
It is unclear how many times Yott hit the victim, whom police have not yet identified as the investigation continues.

A petition filed in 2012 by Yott showed that he was fired from an unspecified position within the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2007. It remains unclear why.
